In the footsteps of the Etruscans around Italy

A six-day tour to discover the most important museums and Etruscan archaeological sites. A journey through four regions, on the trail of one of civilization’s most interesting Italian peninsula. The tour to discover the Etruscan starts from Villa Giulia National Etruscan Museum in Rome.
The next day we continue with the archaeological sites of Tarquinia and Cerveteri. The tour then leaves the Lazio to continue in Umbria with the visit of the Museum of Prehistory of Perugia.
From Umbria you go to Tuscany to visit Chiusi, Volterra and the archaeological museum of Florence. The tour ends with a visit to the Civic Museum of Bologna. The trip can be extended with other excursions, spa holidays, festivals, food and wine tours and artistic events.

Complete tour of the Etruscan towns in Tuscany

The tour to discover the homeland of the Etruscans began in Florence, with a visit to the archaeological museum that preserves many examples of this thriving civilization, to go through the Tuscan provinces, all rich in relics and Etruscan artefacts. From Florence you can reach the nearby Prato to visit the archaeological area of Artimino, Stone and Marina Gonfienti.
From Prato we reach the province of Pisa to see Volterra and Livorno to see Populonia, which preserves a beautiful necropolis located in the Gulf of Baratti. These are several sites that cover different times of Etruscan history. The finds of the necropolis are visible in the museum’s collection Gasparri. The tour then touches the province of Grosseto with Vetulonia and Roselle.
Chiui , one of Dodecapoli Etruscan, is the city of the mythical Dardano and the tomb of Pythagoras and Sarteano, both in the province of Siena, it is the ideal place to immerse themselves in the culture of Tusci and to admire the archaeological museum and the necropolis of Pianacce.
Cortona, in the province of Arezzo, is home of the interesting Etruscan Academy Museum.
Arezzo recent excavations have unearthed the Etruscan walls that surrounded the city and the remains of a place of worship. The tour ends with a visit to the archaeological museum of Colle Val d’Elsa which preserves the remains of the necropolis of the area. The main Etruscan Tuscany

Chasing the Etruscans in Lazio

If we want to understand the history we have to start from Rome, in this case from the Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia. From the capital we will continue with the visit of Cerveteri, home of the immense archaeological heritage UNESCO and the National Museum Cerite, where you can admire the necropolis of Banditaccia, the ancient port of Pyrgi and the ancient fortress. The tour continues with Tarquinia, with well-preserved necropolis Monterozzi and ends with Tuscania. In the Archaeological Museum, at the Church of St. Mary of Rest, you can admire a collection of sarcophagi and furnishings almost complete with some Etruscan families of IV-III century BC that reveal much of the lifestyle of the time. Returning to Rome you make a visit to the town of Blera, Etruscan center along the Via Clodia. Interesting the necropolis of Pian del Vescovo, majestic in its simplicity, is in fact formed by simple dice. Etruscan towns further north

The Etruscans have left signs of their passage even in northern Italy.
Adria, Spina and Ravenna were thriving centers and commercial cities very developed at the time of the Etruscans and in constant relationship with the Gauls and Celts.
This tour takes place in Bologna, Verucchio, Marzabotto and Ferrara. In the city of Asinelli tower you can admire the museum with interesting finds from excavations carried out in the adjacent cemetery. Near Bologna there is the village of Verucchio, which preserves important remains from the Etruscan in its archaeological museum.
